Continuing our catalogue from last time, here are nine more cool ideas for 2017 to round out our list…
9 More Interior Design Trends of 2017
9. Upholstered headboards.
Upholstered headboards are set to replace the wood frames that are currently dominating the market. Whether you opt for a plush model in velvet or a classic one in neutral colors, a headboard is an easy way to add instant glamor to your bedroom.
10. Botanical elements and aquatic colors.
In 2017, interiors are going back to nature in the “botanical and aquatic” theme with the furniture design and color palette inspired by oceans, lagoons and lakes. Fish, coral, shells and creatures of the sea will be a significant source of inspiration for design.
11. The cork comeback.
Not only is cork a stylish material that adds texture and warmth to spaces, but it’s also ideal for absorbing noise in our increasingly open, large homes. Invest in a solid cork side table or stool, or use it in coffee table bases in combination with stone tops. You could also clad an entire wall in your home office and pin notes to it for an even more dramatic look.
12. The new luxe.
Think rich materials such as silks, satins and velvets alongside flannel, concrete and woolen felt. From large pieces such as still lifes and portraits to smaller objects like paperweights and trays, metallic favorites such as gold and copper are featured alongside mysterious accent colors like deep red, purple and magenta.
13. Earthy color palettes.
The 2017 color trend forecast draws inspiration from worldwide sources, aiming for earthy yet vibrant palettes that strongly connect with organic materials. Copper, marble, clay and wood are expected to be a large influence in the interior design scene over the next few years.
14. Terracotta tiles.
Warm materials like terracotta tiles will replace white and cool tones. Unlike tiles from the 80s, however, these will sport a natural matte finish, and they can be used for cladding fireplaces or as feature walls in bathrooms. Avoid tiles that are too rustic, and keep with the matte finish to add warmth and character to your interior.
15. A place to escape.
As we react to our increasingly technological lives, a place with a nook or quiet area devoid of digital distraction will be in demand. Create this space with oversized love seats, floor cushions, chunky knit wool rugs, day beds or deep sofas with linen slip covers.
16. Rescued looks.
Worn, chipped pieces with lots of character will continue to be popular in 2017. Repurposed items such as throws, lamps and pictures help to add a vintage, Old World feel to any space and can add a funky, unique, one-of-a-kind vibe to your home.
17. Gold and brass.
Warm metallics are making a welcomed comeback. No, we don’t mean those cheap, tacky gold frames or Colonial brass chandeliers. Instead, opt for warm, rich hues in your furniture and accent pieces. Think rich handcarved frames with gorgeous antiquing and gold leafing or updated lamps in antiqued or hammered brass.
